In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the Air India group has rolled out a series of initiatives to celebrate and empower women within its ranks. The airline announced that a total of 15 all-women crew flights were operated across domestic and international routes on the occasion.
Highlighting the significant presence of women within its workforce, Air India revealed that over 15 percent of its cockpit crew comprises women, positioning the airline as one with one of the largest numbers of women pilots in the industry. Additionally, women employees make up 51 percent of the total workforce, reflecting a commitment to gender diversity and inclusion.
Following its integration into the Tata group, Air India has witnessed a notable increase in the number of women employees across various departments. At Air India Express, over 13 percent of pilots are women, while nearly half of the workforce consists of female employees.
In addition to operational endeavors, Air India has organized week-long programs aimed at inspiring and empowering women employees through webinars and live sessions featuring experts from various fields. These initiatives serve to raise awareness and provide role models for women within the organization.
As a token of appreciation to its female passengers, Air India Express is offering complimentary seat selection and priority boarding services to all women travelers through its mobile app and website on International Women’s Day.
Furthermore, Air India’s loyalty program, Flying Returns, is extending a special offer to its female members, allowing them to fast-track their membership to the Silver Edge Club. This exclusive club offers additional benefits such as increased reward points, complimentary upgrades, and priority check-in services.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Invest in women: Accelerate Progress,” underscores the importance of investing in women’s empowerment and advancement.
