Ola Electric announced on Wednesday that it has expanded its network to 4,000 stores nationwide, marking a four-fold increase in its existing network. The company also revealed that two of its senior executives, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Anshul Khandelwal and Chief Technology and Product Officer (CTO) Suvonil Chatterjee, resigned from their positions, citing personal reasons.
In a regulatory filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), Ola Electric confirmed the resignations, stating that both Khandelwal and Chatterjee had stepped down effective December 27, 2024. The filing included a letter from Khandelwal, who expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to Ola Electric’s growth and vision but emphasized that personal reasons led to his decision to resign. Chatterjee similarly cited personal reasons for his departure.
“I am writing to formally resign from my position as the Chief Marketing Officer at Ola Electric, effective immediately, December 27th, 2024. It has been an incredible journey, and I am grateful for the opportunities to contribute to Ola’s inspiring vision. However, due to personal reasons, I request to be relieved of my duties effective today,” Khandelwal stated in his resignation.
In the same announcement, Ola Electric also shared the progress of its expansion efforts. The company has successfully opened over 3,200 new stores co-located with service facilities, spanning across metros, Tier I and II cities, and even reaching smaller towns and tehsils. This expansion aims to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) ownership experience for customers and offers a more accessible service network.
Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of Ola Electric, expressed excitement over the expansion. “With our newly opened stores co-located with service centres, we have completely redefined the EV purchase and ownership experience, setting new benchmarks with our #SavingsWalaScooter campaign,” Aggarwal said in a statement.
The expansion of Ola Electric’s store network is seen as a major step in the company’s strategy to boost EV adoption across India. Despite the executive departures, the company’s rapid growth and its push to improve customer service capabilities highlight its commitment to shaping the future of electric mobility in the country.
