“Canadian Air Canada Express Flight Evacuated After Landing Gear Failure Causes Fire at Halifax Airport”

A dramatic aviation incident unfolded at Canada’s Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Thursday night when an Air Canada Express flight, operated by PAL Airlines, experienced a rough landing due to a landing gear failure. The aircraft, which had arrived from Newfoundland, caught fire after its landing gear malfunctioned, causing panic among passengers on board.

The incident occurred around 9:30 pm local time. According to passengers, the plane’s left wing began skidding along the pavement, and the aircraft was positioned at a 20-degree angle as it came in for landing. The situation was compounded by a partial fire, prompting the immediate evacuation of all passengers. “We heard what almost sounded like a crash sound as the wing of the plane began skidding,” one passenger told CBC News.

The flight was carrying an estimated 80 passengers, although the exact number remains unconfirmed. Emergency responders, including paramedics and the Nova Scotia RCMP, rushed to the scene to provide aid. Airport authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the plane and transported to a hangar for medical evaluation. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and all individuals were safely accounted for.

The cause of the landing gear failure is still under investigation. Aviation authorities, including representatives from Air Canada and other relevant agencies, are working to determine whether the malfunction was due to a mechanical fault, procedural error, or other external factors.

The incident at Halifax occurred alongside a devastating tragedy in South Korea. A Jeju Air flight, carrying 181 people from Bangkok to Muan, crashed during its landing, resulting in the deaths of 179 people on board. While the Canadian plane’s emergency landing resulted in no fatalities, the tragic crash in South Korea has cast a shadow over aviation safety worldwide.

Authorities are working quickly to investigate the causes of both incidents, with the hope of preventing similar accidents in the future. The aviation community continues to prioritize passenger safety, as both incidents highlight the importance of swift responses to unexpected emergencies in flight.
