Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu made headlines as he swiftly departed from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) shortly after his recent induction, citing a temporary withdrawal from the political arena.
Rayudu, renowned for his cricketing career and having retired from the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Chennai Super Kings’ victorious season in May 2023, took to social media to announce his unexpected exit from the YSRCP. He revealed his decision without delving into the specifics behind this abrupt move, expressing intentions to disclose his next steps at a later time.
In a statement shared online, Rayudu conveyed, “This is to inform everyone that I have decided to quit the YSRCP Party and stay out of politics for a little while. Further action will be conveyed in due course of time.”
His entry into the YSRCP was a recent development, with Rayudu joining the party in Andhra Pradesh just a week ago, amid the presence of notable party leaders including Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy, and Rajampeta Lok Sabha member P Mithun Reddy.
The YSRCP had publicized Rayudu’s induction through a social media post on X, highlighting the ceremony at the Chief Minister’s camp office.
A stalwart in Indian cricket, Rayudu had a prominent career representing the national team in international tournaments and participating in the IPL, showcasing his talents for various state cricket bodies. In more recent times, the former cricketer had been engaging with the public through diverse programs.
Rayudu’s sudden departure from the political domain has left many speculating about the reasons behind his decision and the implications it might have for his future engagements. His move, following a short-lived stint with the YSRCP, raises questions about his potential return to the political landscape or a divergence toward other endeavors.
While the former cricketer refrained from elaborating on the specifics of his decision to distance himself from politics, his exit from the YSRCP within days of joining marks a surprising turn in his brief foray into the realm of Andhra Pradesh politics.
