Zomato has unveiled a new feature called ‘Order Scheduling,’ allowing customers to place orders up to two days in advance. Announced on Saturday, August 24, by Zomato CEO and founder Deepinder Goyal on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the service aims to enhance convenience for users by providing more flexibility in meal planning.
The ‘Order Scheduling’ feature is currently available at around 13,000 outlets across several cities, including Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Jaipur. However, the service is restricted to orders with a minimum value of ₹1,000. Goyal highlighted that these cities were chosen based on the consistent kitchen preparation times and high stock levels observed in the partner restaurants.
In his post, Goyal mentioned that while the feature is initially available in select cities, Zomato plans to expand it to other locations and restaurants over time, regardless of order value. The feature has received positive feedback from users on X, with many expressing their enthusiasm and appreciation. One user remarked, “Always wanted this feature. Great job,” while another commented, “Always thought this was one pretty critical feature missing in an otherwise great app.”
The introduction of ‘Order Scheduling’ comes shortly after Zomato announced the discontinuation of its intercity food delivery service, ‘Zomato Legends.’ Goyal shared on X that despite two years of effort, the company was unable to find a product-market fit for the service, leading to its immediate shutdown. Zomato Legends aimed to offer food delivery from renowned restaurants across the country, but the service will no longer be available.
The new ‘Order Scheduling’ feature is expected to streamline the ordering process for users, especially for those who need to plan their meals in advance due to busy schedules or specific dietary needs.
