The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has officially approved the merger of AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) with Air India Express (AIX), creating a unified low-cost carrier under the Air India umbrella. The merger ensures that all aircraft from AIX Connect have been transferred onto the Air India Express Air Operator Certificate, allowing seamless operations without disruption.

In a recent development, Air India Express, owned by the Tata Group, is gradually resuming its flight operations after facing disruptions due to a mass sick leave taken by cabin crew members. The airline, which operates numerous daily flights, experienced cancellations and service interruptions but is now on track to restore normalcy by Tuesday.

Air India Express has reached an agreement with its cabin crew, ending a strike that resulted in flight cancellations and disruptions. The airline has agreed to reinstate the 25 cabin crew members who were terminated for calling in sick, bringing relief to hundreds of affected passengers.

Air India Express has faced a significant disruption as over 100 flights were cancelled due to a "mass sick leave" by the cabin crew, affecting both international and domestic routes. The unexpected cancellations came after approximately 300 senior cabin crew members reported sick at the last minute and turned off their mobile phones, leaving passengers stranded and confused.

Air India Express, a subsidiary of Air India, is set to enhance travel options for passengers with the introduction of non-stop flights from Kolkata to Imphal and Kochi starting this April.
