“Rajinikanth’s Wife Granted Bail in ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ Fraud Case: Conditional Release Amid Legal Battle”

Rajinikanth's Wife Granted Conditional Bail in 'Kochadaiiyaan' Fraud Case

Latha Rajinikanth, the wife of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, has been granted conditional bail by a Bengaluru court in connection with a forgery case linked to the 2014 film ‘Kochadaiiyaan’. The case revolves around allegations of forgery and a financial dispute stemming from the movie’s production.

Appearing before the Magistrate court in Bengaluru on December 26, Latha Rajinikanth sought bail and filed an application for discharge in the ongoing case, which has now been adjourned until January 6.

The court granted bail on the condition of a personal bond amounting to Rs. 1 lakh and a cash surety of Rs. 25,000. Additionally, she was directed not to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence during the course of the investigation.

Charged under Sections 196, 199, 463, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, Latha Rajinikanth’s discharge application faced objections from the complainant due to the non-bailable nature of Section 463 of the IPC, as she hadn’t obtained bail yet.

The High Court had previously directed Latha Rajinikanth to appear before the court by January 6, 2024. The case stems from a private complaint filed by Ad Bureau Advertising, a Chennai-based company, concerning financial transactions related to the film involving Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, which produced the movie featuring Rajinikanth. Notably, Latha Rajinikanth’s daughter directed the film ‘Kochadaiiyaan’.

Allegations suggest that Latha Rajinikanth, on behalf of Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd, provided a guarantee to Ad Bureau Advertising, which was allegedly not honored after the film encountered financial losses.

Latha Rajinikanth had previously obtained an injunction against several media outlets from reporting on the financial transaction. However, the injunction was dismissed in 2015. Following this, Ad Bureau Advertising lodged a private complaint, alleging the use of a false document in the prior injunction suit filed by Latha Rajinikanth.

The case continues to unfold as the court proceedings move forward, with Latha Rajinikanth’s bail standing as a significant development in this ongoing legal saga surrounding the film ‘Kochadaiiyaan’.
