IndiGo, one of India’s leading airlines, has rolled out a new feature aimed at enhancing the safety and comfort of female travellers. This innovative feature allows female passengers to view which seats other female travellers have selected during web check-in, providing them with the option to choose seats adjacent to other women. The feature is specifically designed for Passenger Name Records (PNR) with women travellers, whether they are travelling solo or as part of family bookings.
In a statement, IndiGo expressed its pride in introducing this new feature, highlighting its commitment to offering an unparalleled travel experience for all passengers. The initiative is part of IndiGo’s #GirlPower ethos and is currently in pilot mode following market research.
“We are proud to announce the introduction of a new feature that aims to make the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers,” stated IndiGo. “This initiative aligns with our commitment to providing exceptional service and ensuring passenger satisfaction.”
This development comes amidst other strategic announcements from IndiGo. The airline recently revealed plans to introduce a business class option on its flights, catering to the evolving needs of passengers and offering more choices amid India’s rising economic growth. Details of the tailor-made business product are expected to be unveiled around August, coinciding with the carrier’s 18th anniversary.
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers commented on the airline’s growth trajectory and commitment to providing enhanced travel options. “As India continues its economic ascent and becomes one of the world’s largest economies, it is our privilege to offer the New India a range of travel options,” said Elbers. “Our focus is on redefining premium travel in India and expanding access to these services.”
IndiGo’s move to introduce female-friendly seat selection and business class services reflects its proactive approach to meeting passenger demands and setting new standards in the aviation industry. With a fleet of over 360 aircraft and operating around 2,000 flights daily, IndiGo continues to innovate and enhance its offerings for passengers across the country.
