Deepu R.S. Chadayamangalam: A Journey of Resilience, Creativity and Humanity
When life creates seemingly insurmountable challenges, some people choose to turn those difficulties into opportunities for creativity and purpose. Deepu R.S. Chadayamangalam has followed exactly this path. Diagnosed with EDMD Muscular Dystrophy, a rare genetic disorder that threatened his physical abilities, he refused to allow his condition to define his ambitions. His journey across literature, music, cinema and social service reflects resilience, creativity and a strong commitment to humanity.
A Remarkable Literary Journey
Deepu R.S. Chadayamangalam has built an extensive body of work across poetry, fiction, children’s literature and drama. His Malayalam biographical epic Sudhamaya Gatha entered the London Book of World Records and is described as the first Malayalam biographical epic (Khandakavya) about a North Indian writer.
The work chronicles the life of Prof. Dr. Sudhanshu Chaturvedi, portraying his role as a cultural bridge between Hindi and Malayalam. It received appreciation from literary personalities including K. Satchidanandan and Omchery and earned Deepu the Thamarathoni Award from the Mahakavi P. Foundation, Thiruvananthapuram.
His English poetry collection My Quarantine Tales also received an Appreciation Award from the India Book of Records. He was additionally honoured with the Poet of the Year Award by Ukyoto Publication and the Sahithya Sparsh National Award.

One of Deepu R.S. Chadayamangalam’s major literary achievements is his first epic novel, JADAYU Ramayanam – Smrithikalude Mahapravaham. Originally completed in Malayalam, the novel has been translated into English and Hindi, allowing its story and ideas to reach a broader readership.
Deepu has also translated 20 selected stories by Munshi Premchand, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan and Rabindranath Tagore into a children’s story collection titled Kasakhi Rahi Balayi.
His literary portfolio further includes Aadithyante Vihwalathakal, a story collection, along with poetry collections such as Ente Pushpaka Vimanam and Pon Chirakukalal Parakkunnavar.

One of his notable musical achievements came when legendary South Indian music director Sharreth sang one of his songs in the Malayalam feature film Mazhavil Kanavukal, directed by S.S. Jishnudev.
Deepu has also made his mark in filmmaking. As a co-producer of Ennu Sakshal Daivam, he holds a URF World Record for a film that was shot and screened within a record-breaking 16 hours.
As a director, his musical short film Amma Megham received recognition at international film platforms, including the Satyajit Ray International Film Award and top honours at the Paris International Film Festival.
