Food Safety Probe Initiated After Two Fall Ill From Noida McDonald's and Theobroma

The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department (FDA) has launched an investigation following reports of two individuals falling ill after consuming food from a McDonald’s outlet in Noida’s Sector 18 and Theobroma bakery in Sector 104.

According to officials, the FDA responded to a complaint lodged on the Food Safety Connect portal of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The complaint alleged that a consumer became sick after consuming food items from these establishments.

In the first incident, the complaint against the McDonald’s outlet in Noida Sector 18 stated that a customer fell ill after consuming a burger and french fries. As a response, the FDA team visited the outlet to collect samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise for testing.

Archana Dheeran, Assistant Commissioner (Food) FDA, Gautam Buddh Nagar, stated, “We got a complaint on the portal against McDonald’s. The customer fell ill after consuming aloo tikki and french fries. We have taken action in this regard and taken samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise.”

In the second incident, a woman reported falling ill after consuming a stale cake from Theobroma bakery in Noida Sector 104. The FDA team collected samples of the cake for laboratory analysis.
