In a significant move highlighting his support for former President Donald Trump, Elon Musk has announced plans to donate $45 million per month to a newly formed Trump super political-action committee (PAC), as reported by the Wall Street Journal. This commitment underscores Musk’s continued involvement in U.S. politics and his backing of Trump’s political initiatives.
The PAC, named America PAC, was established recently and has already garnered attention for its fundraising efforts. However, despite Musk’s pledge, his name did not appear in the quarterly financial filing submitted by America PAC to the Federal Election Commission on Monday. This filing disclosed that the committee raised over $8 million in contributions from various high-profile donors.
Among the notable contributors mentioned in the filing are Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir, who donated $1 million through Lonsdale Enterprises, and cryptocurrency billionaires Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who each contributed $250,000. Former U.S. ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and other prominent figures have also lent their support to the super PAC.
Since its inception in May, America PAC has raised $8.8 million and expended $7.8 million by the end of June, leaving approximately $1 million in its coffers. The committee’s financial activities reflect its early efforts to mobilize support for Trump’s political endeavors ahead of future elections.
Elon Musk’s public endorsement of Trump has been evident, particularly during the Republic National Convention held recently in Milwaukee. As the only Fortune 100 CEO to openly support Trump from the outset, Musk reiterated his endorsement following an alleged assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania. On his social media platform, X, Musk expressed his support, stating, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
While Musk’s financial contributions to America PAC for July remain unconfirmed, his pledge marks a significant infusion of funds into the political landscape, signaling robust backing for Trump’s political agenda.
