Yuzvendra Chahal to Provide ₹4.75 Crore Alimony to Dhanashree Verma in Divorce Settlement

Yuzvendra Chahal to Pay Dhanashree Verma ₹4.75 Crore in Alimony: Report

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal will pay actor-choreographer Dhanashree Verma ₹4.75 crore in alimony as part of their divorce settlement, according to a report by Bar and Bench. The alimony amount was disclosed during a Bombay High Court hearing, where the couple sought to fast-track their divorce proceedings by waiving the mandatory six-month reconciliation period.

Alimony Payment and Court Proceedings

Chahal has already paid ₹2.37 crore of the agreed alimony amount, with the remaining sum to be settled once their divorce is finalized in court. Justice Madhav Jamdar of the Bombay High Court stated that the full alimony could be paid as permanent settlement after the family court finalizes the divorce. The case is scheduled for a decision on March 20.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2020, reportedly lived separately for two years before filing for divorce in early 2025. On February 5, they requested the family court to waive the cooling-off period under Section 13B(2) of the Hindu Marriage Act, which is typically required for mutual consent divorces. However, the request was denied on February 20 due to Chahal’s incomplete alimony payment, which led to questions regarding his adherence to the settlement agreement reached during mediation.

Speculation and Public Reactions

Before the official confirmation of their divorce, social media was rife with speculation as the couple had unfollowed each other on Instagram, further fueling rumors. There were also unverified claims suggesting that Verma would receive an alimony amount as high as ₹60 crore.

In response to the speculations, Verma’s family issued a statement condemning the misinformation surrounding the alimony figure. They stated, “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever.”

The statement further emphasized the irresponsible nature of spreading unverified information and urged the media to respect the privacy of both parties. “It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation,” the statement read.

Conclusion

As the family court prepares to make a final decision on the divorce proceedings, Chahal and Verma continue to navigate their separation amidst public scrutiny. The case has highlighted the challenges of high-profile divorces, where media speculation and misinformation can significantly impact the individuals involved. The outcome of the hearing on March 20 will determine the final terms of their legal separation.
