As a result of the cold wave-like conditions enveloping the National Capital Region (NCR), the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate, Manish Kumar Verma, issued an order on Wednesday to postpone the commencement of classes for students from nursery to class 8 in Noida and Greater Noida. The delayed start, effective from January 18, mandates that all schools, including those recognized by state boards, CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and others, begin their classes at 10 am until further notice.

The national capital faced severe disruptions in flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday, with about 10 flights diverted and over 100 facing delays due to dense fog causing low visibility. The thick fog, a result of the ongoing cold wave, has enveloped Delhi over the past three days, reaching the lowest minimum temperature of the winter season.

As the winter break comes to an end, schools in Delhi are gearing up to resume physical classes on January 15. In light of the ongoing dense fog situation, a precautionary measure has been implemented, ensuring no classes will commence before 9 am and after 5 pm. The decision aims to address safety concerns for students and staff during the prevailing weather conditions.

Flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport faced disruption as a dense blanket of fog descended upon the national capital, leading to visibility issues and delays in both international and domestic flights.
