Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has emerged as India’s biggest taxpayer for the year 2024, surpassing cricketer Virat Kohli and other prominent celebrities. According to a report by Fortune India, Khan paid a staggering ₹92 crore in taxes this year, solidifying his position at the top of the list.
Top Taxpayers of 2024
Following Shah Rukh Khan, Tamil actor Vijay secured the second spot with a tax payment of ₹80 crore. Salman Khan, known for his blockbuster hits, came in third, contributing ₹75 crore.
Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan ranked fourth, paying ₹71 crore. Kohli, who was previously a top taxpayer, now holds the fifth position with a tax payment of ₹66 crore. Ajay Devgn, another prominent figure in Indian cinema, is sixth on the list with ₹42 crore.
Cricketer MS Dhoni occupies the seventh spot, having paid ₹38 crore. Ranbir Kapoor, who has been making waves in Bollywood, is in the eighth position with a tax payment of ₹36 crore. Hrithik Roshan and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar both contributed ₹28 crore and are tied in the ninth spot.
Top 20 Taxpayers
The list of high taxpayers also includes Kapil Sharma at ₹26 crore, Sourav Ganguly at ₹23 crore, and Kareena Kapoor at ₹20 crore. Shahid Kapoor, Hardik Pandya, and Kiara Advani are among the other celebrities in the top 20, with tax payments of ₹14 crore, ₹13 crore, and ₹12 crore, respectively. Notable entries include Mohanlal and Allu Arjun, each contributing ₹14 crore, while Pankaj Tripathi and Katrina Kaif both paid ₹11 crore.
Aamir Khan and Rishabh Pant, with ₹10 crore each, are in the 21st and 22nd positions. Aamir Khan, last seen in the film Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), continues to make an impact both on and off the screen.

Shah Rukh Khan’s remarkable tax contribution coincides with his successful year in cinema. His recent films—Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki—have been major hits, and he is set to appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film King. Reports suggest that his daughter, Suhana Khan, will also feature in the movie.
