Harley-Davidson India is all set to introduce its highly anticipated and most affordable motorcycle, the X440, to the Indian market on July 3, 2023. Developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, the X440 will directly compete with popular motorcycles like the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Honda H’ness CB350 in India. Ahead of the launch, Harley-Davidson has already unveiled images of the motorcycle and even released a video showcasing its distinctive exhaust note.
From the revealed images, the Harley-Davidson X440 displays a striking design, featuring a round headlight with integrated branding, a single-pod instrument cluster, a flat handlebar, a side-slung exhaust, machined alloy wheels, and retro-style round indicators. While detailed specifications are currently limited, the X440 is expected to house a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil and air-cooled engine capable of reaching a redline of 8,000rpm. Anticipated power output is around 30bhp with a torque of 35Nm.
In terms of hardware, the new X440 is likely to sport upside-down front forks, twin rear shocks, and disc brakes on both wheels. Safety features are expected to include dual-channel ABS and a side-stand engine cut-off function.
With regards to pricing, industry experts predict that the Harley-Davidson X440 will be positioned around the Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) price range, making it an attractive option for motorcycle enthusiasts seeking an affordable cruiser with the iconic Harley-Davidson brand.
The launch of the X440 signifies Harley-Davidson’s strategic move to penetrate the Indian market with a more accessible and competitively priced motorcycle. By joining forces with Hero MotoCorp, a renowned two-wheeler manufacturer in India, Harley-Davidson aims to capture a significant share of the cruiser segment, which has seen immense popularity in recent years.
As the X440 hits the Indian roads, it is expected to ignite a fierce competition among motorcycle enthusiasts, who will now have another powerful option in the affordable cruiser segment. The battle for supremacy among Harley-Davidson, Royal Enfield, and Honda is set to intensify, offering customers a broader range of choices and pushing manufacturers to deliver exceptional quality and performance.
