“NCP’s Ajit Pawar Requests Relieving Leader of Opposition Role, Seeks Different Party Role”

NCP leader Ajit Pawar has appealed to the party leadership, expressing his desire to be relieved of his responsibilities as the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra assembly. During the Nationalist Congress Party’s 24th Foundation Day event in Mumbai, Pawar made this request and expressed his interest in taking on a different role within the party organization.

Addressing party members, Pawar stated, “I am told that I don’t act tough as the leader of the opposition.” He further added, “I was never interested in working as the Leader of Opposition but accepted the role upon the demand of the party MLAs.”

Having served the party for many years in various capacities, Pawar emphasized that the position of Leader of Opposition was not one he had initially sought. Instead, it was upon the insistence of party MLAs who signed a letter that he assumed the role. However, he now wishes to relinquish this position and focus on working within the party organization.

Pawar assured party leadership that he would deliver the best results in any role assigned to him and expressed his willingness to showcase his capabilities. He highlighted his commitment to the organization and his eagerness to contribute effectively.

Ajit Pawar’s announcement came after NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s offer to resign from the party president’s post, which was later withdrawn following protests and demands from party workers and leaders. Recently, Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule were appointed as the party’s national working presidents.

While Sharad Pawar refrained from commenting on Ajit Pawar’s demand, he emphasized the importance of opposition unity and highlighted the upcoming meeting of opposition parties in Patna on June 23.

Ajit Pawar underscored his role in the victory of several NCP MLAs during the 2019 Assembly polls and his ability to make prompt decisions. He acknowledged the need for the party to overcome its challenges and stressed the importance of bringing the party back to power.

The NCP leadership will now consider Ajit Pawar’s request and determine his future role within the party. This development may trigger speculations about the internal dynamics and potential changes within the NCP as it prepares for future political endeavors.
