Infosys Introduces System Measures to Ensure Employees Return to Office

Infosys to Enforce ‘System Interventions’ for Mandatory Office Attendance

IT major Infosys has informed its employees that it will introduce “system interventions” to ensure compliance with its hybrid work policy, mandating at least 10 days of work from the office each month. The changes, set to take effect from March 10, 2025, were communicated through an internal email sent by functional heads, as reported by The Economic Times.

New Work-from-Office Policy

The email stated that Infosys aims to limit the number of work-from-home days that employees can apply for each month. To facilitate this, the company will modify its attendance system to reinforce the policy.

“To support this, starting March 10, 2025, system interventions will be implemented to limit the number of work-from-home days that can be applied each month. These measures are designed to ensure compliance with the new hybrid work requirements while maintaining flexibility for employees,” the email read.

Employees will now be required to log in from their respective offices at least 10 days a month. Work-from-home requests will not be automatically approved through the company’s mobile attendance app. Additionally, if an employee does not meet their in-office attendance target, the shortfall will reportedly be deducted from their leave balance.

Who Will Be Affected?

The new policy applies to employees at job level 5 (JL5) and below, including software engineers, senior engineers, and consultants. Team leaders also fall under this category.

However, JL6 and above, which includes managers, senior managers, delivery managers, and senior delivery managers, are exempt from this intervention. Vice Presidents are also not included in JL6.

Employee Concerns

Some employees have raised concerns about the potential impact of the policy on efficiency. A senior employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, noted that working from home saves a significant amount of commuting time, and the enforcement of in-office attendance could affect productivity.

Infosys’ decision comes amid a broader shift in the IT industry, where many companies are pushing for a structured return to office while balancing employee flexibility. The implementation of system interventions suggests a stronger push from the company to ensure adherence to its hybrid work model.
