“Fire Engulfs Coaches of Falaknuma Express in Telangana; Passengers Unharmed”

In a distressing incident, a fire broke out in five coaches of the Falaknuma Express while it was en route from Howrah to Secunderabad. The incident occurred in the Yadadri Bhongir district of Telangana on Friday. Thankfully, no injuries were reported among the passengers.

As the train staff noticed smoke emanating from the S4 and S5 coaches, they promptly alerted the loco-pilot. Acting swiftly, the loco-pilot halted the train between Pagidipalli and Bommayipalli railway stations, allowing the passengers to safely disembark. However, the fire quickly spread to six coaches, resulting in extensive damage to five of them.

Railway personnel disconnected the affected coaches to prevent the flames from spreading further. Meanwhile, local police and officials from the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) promptly arrived at the scene. Authorities arranged six buses to transport the passengers to Hyderabad, ensuring their comfort and safety.

To assist the stranded passengers, the Lokmanya Tilak train was dispatched from Secunderabad to the accident site. Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Rakesh stated that the cause of the fire will be determined following a thorough investigation.

Telangana Director General of Police (DGP), Anjani Kumar, reassured the public via Twitter that all passengers were successfully evacuated and transferred to buses. He highlighted the coordinated efforts of the police, fire department, and railways in managing the situation. Of the 18 coaches, 11 were detached and moved away safely. At present, the fire has been extinguished in three of the affected bogies.

In a separate incident, a few days prior, a fire erupted in the parked Kannur-Alappuzha Executive Express (16306) train at Kannur Railway Station. The fire originated in the general coach, but swift action by the fire brigade contained and extinguished the flames. Authorities decided to separate the unaffected coaches as a precautionary measure to prevent further damage.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) reported that the fire was a result of miscreant activity. A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the on-duty Station Master. Forensic experts visited the site for investigation.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and the need for thorough investigations to prevent such incidents in the future. The Indian Railways, along with other relevant authorities, remains committed to ensuring passenger safety and enhancing security protocols.
