“Delhi Resident Sends Nearly-Expired Flour to Zepto Founders: ‘Understand Common Man’s Struggles'”

Delhi Man Sends Nearly-Expired Flour to Zepto Founders to Highlight Consumer Issues

A Delhi resident, Gajender Yadav, has taken a unique approach to protest against receiving nearly-expired flour from quick commerce company Zepto. Frustrated with the company’s response to his complaint, Yadav sent the nearly-expired product directly to the Zepto founders to highlight the challenges faced by common consumers.

The issue began when Yadav ordered 10 kg of wheat flour from Zepto, only to find that the expiration date was just eight days away. Shocked and frustrated, he took to social media platform X to share his experience, tagging Zepto and asking how he was supposed to finish 10 kg of wheat in such a short time. His post quickly gained traction, prompting Zepto to respond and request his order details.

Zepto initially expressed regret over the “unpleasant experience” and assured Yadav that their team would contact him soon. However, the situation escalated when a customer care representative told Yadav that nothing could be done and advised him to “finish” the flour within seven days.

Angered by this response, Yadav criticized Zepto’s customer service on social media, suggesting that the company needed to train its staff on common sense and logic. He also called for the expiration date of products to be displayed on their app to prevent similar issues in the future. Emphasizing the pointlessness of selling near-expiry products at full price, Yadav demanded better transparency from the company.

Determined to make his point, Yadav asked for the address of Zepto’s office to send the nearly-expired flour directly to the company’s founders, Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra. He later updated his followers, stating that he had sent 3 kg of flour to each founder. Yadav explained that this action was meant to make the founders understand the struggles of a common man.

Despite receiving calls from Zepto offering a refund, Yadav declined, stating that the issue had grown beyond just the monetary aspect. He emphasized the harassment and the time and energy wasted due to this incident. Since then, Yadav has become more vigilant about checking expiration dates on all products he purchases.
