A Blinkit user has raised concerns over discrepancies in the weight of products delivered by the quick commerce platform. The user, who shared their experience on Reddit, posted pictures as proof and claimed they received significantly less than the mentioned weight in their orders.
Customer Complaint Over Weight Discrepancy
According to the Reddit post, the customer had ordered 600 grams of grapes from Blinkit a few weeks ago. However, upon receiving the package, they suspected it was lighter than expected. Weighing it confirmed their suspicion—the total weight, including packaging, was only 370 grams.
Initially dismissing it as a one-time mistake, the user encountered a similar issue again last week when they ordered 500 grams of grapes. This time, the package weighed just 395 grams, including packaging materials.
The user also alleged receiving open boxes of cat food with missing pouches in the past and being delivered cheaper fruits and vegetables instead of the ones they had ordered. Calling it a “thought-out scam,” they urged fellow customers to double-check their orders before accepting them.
Blinkit’s Response to the Allegations
Responding to the Reddit post, Blinkit, which is owned by Zomato, apologized for the customer’s experience and assured that they would investigate the issue. The company asked the user to provide their order ID or registered mobile number to help resolve the matter.
“We completely understand the unsettling experience you had with us. We would like to identify and rectify the discrepancies in weight, packaging, and product quality,” Blinkit stated in its response.
Netizens Share Similar Experiences
The post sparked discussions, with multiple users sharing their own experiences of receiving incorrect or missing items from Blinkit.
“Numerous times, I have had one item missing from the order (in case of large orders). Though they send it after raising a ticket, I did not find it worth my time and stopped using the app altogether,” a user commented.
Another user questioned why people rely on quick-commerce platforms instead of supporting local grocery shops. “Why are we making billionaires richer when hardworking shop owners actually need local business?” they wrote.
A third user recounted a similar weight issue, claiming their 500-gram order of tomatoes weighed only around 350 grams.
The incident has raised concerns over transparency and accuracy in online grocery delivery, with customers urging Blinkit to address such issues promptly.
