16th National Voters’ Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Jammu

Jammu, January 25, 2026:
The 16th National Voters’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and civic spirit on Sunday at the Convention Centre, Jammu. The event was organized by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Jammu & Kashmir, with the objective of strengthening democratic values and promoting voter awareness, especially among youth and first-time voters.

The celebration witnessed active participation from government officials, artists, students, and members of civil society, reflecting the collective commitment towards upholding the democratic process. National Voters’ Day is observed every year on January 25 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India and to encourage informed and ethical participation in elections.

A major highlight of the event was an art exhibition showcasing creative works produced during a three-day Artists’ Camp held on the theme “My India, My Vote.” The exhibition was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K. The artworks beautifully depicted the power of the vote, democratic responsibility, national unity, and the role of citizens in shaping India’s future.

The event was graced by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, who appreciated the innovative initiative of using art as a medium to spread voter awareness. In his address, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized that voting is not only a constitutional right but also a moral duty of every citizen. He lauded the efforts of the Election Department for engaging the public through creative and inclusive activities.

Senior officials from the Election Department, artists, and invited guests were also present on the occasion. Voters were encouraged to pledge their commitment to free, fair, and peaceful elections, reinforcing trust in the democratic system.

The celebration of the 16th National Voters’ Day at Jammu successfully combined art, awareness, and democratic values, sending a strong message about the importance of active civic participation in building a strong and vibrant India.
