“IRCTC Teams Up with Swiggy to Bring Food Delivery Services to Trains”

IRCTC and Swiggy Collaborate to Deliver Food in Trains

In a bid to enhance passenger experience and cater to the evolving demands of travelers, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has forged a strategic partnership with Swiggy, a leading food ordering platform. This collaboration aims to streamline the delivery of pre-ordered meals directly to train passengers, adding a new dimension to onboard dining services.

The announcement came through an official filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday, where IRCTC revealed its collaboration with Bundl Technologies Private Limited, the parent company of Swiggy. Under this partnership, Swiggy will facilitate the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals through IRCTC’s e-catering portal, marking a significant advancement in onboard dining services.

The initiative will be rolled out in phases, with the initial phase focusing on four major stations: Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. While the exact launch date remains undisclosed, IRCTC assures that the facility will be introduced ‘soon,’ indicating a swift implementation process.

This collaboration adds to IRCTC’s existing partnership with Zomato for the delivery of pre-ordered food at select railway stations including Kanpur, Lucknow, New Delhi, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. The synergy between IRCTC and leading food delivery platforms underscores a concerted effort to modernize and improve onboard dining experiences for railway passengers across the country.

Passengers seeking to avail themselves of this service can do so conveniently by entering their PNR (Passenger Name Record) number, enabling access to a diverse range of restaurant options tailored to their journey. Subsequently, passengers can place their orders and choose between online payment or cash on delivery. The ordered meals will then be promptly delivered directly to their seats, ensuring a hassle-free dining experience during train journeys.

With the increasing adoption of digital solutions and the growing emphasis on passenger comfort, initiatives like the IRCTC-Swiggy collaboration represent a significant step forward in revolutionizing onboard services and catering to the evolving preferences of modern travelers. As the partnership unfolds, passengers can look forward to a seamless and convenient dining experience while traveling by train.
