In the industrial city of Durgapur in West Bengal, one such emerging figure is Subham Prakash Singh, a youth political organizer who has steadily built his presence through youth mobilization and community engagement.
Subham is currently serving as Zilla Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Bardhaman district, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Subham’s interest in politics and governance developed during his academic years. He pursued his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from West Bengal State University between 2017 and 2020, where he studied political institutions, governance systems, and democratic processes. Seeking to further strengthen his understanding of public affairs, he later completed his Master’s degree in Political Science from Indira Gandhi National Open University in 2022.
This academic background provided Subham with a theoretical framework to understand the functioning of political systems and the role of democratic institutions. Over time, his academic interest translated into practical involvement in political organization and youth mobilization.
Before assuming his current role in BJYM, He was also actively associated with youth mobilization initiatives such as Namo Yuva Warriors, where he served as Co-Convenor at the Bardhaman district level. In addition, he worked as Assembly In-Charge for Durgapur Paschim and Durgapur Purba, coordinating youth volunteers and assisting in campaign organization. Beyond politics, He is also an entrepreneur and the founder of Knots, a footwear brand that reflects his interest in business and local enterprise development. Entrepreneurship has provided him with valuable insights into the challenges faced by small businesses, local markets, and young entrepreneurs.
Balancing business and political responsibilities requires careful time management and commitment. Subham’s experience as both an entrepreneur and a youth political organizer reflects a broader trend among young professionals who seek to combine career pursuits with public engagement.
