In a significant move to bolster India’s defense capabilities, the U.S. State Department has approved the sale of MK 54 MOD 0 Lightweight Torpedoes to India. This arms deal, valued at $175 million, forms part of a broader package of military sales to three countries, including Romania and Italy, for a total of $965 million.
According to statements released by the Pentagon on Monday, the potential sales also include Sentinel radar systems to Romania for $110 million and an electronic attack mission system to Italy for $680 million. RTX Corp will serve as the principal contractor for Romania, while BAE Systems will handle the Italian sale.
