3.5 Magnitude Tremor Strikes Alirajpur District in Madhya Pradesh

Mild Earthquake of Magnitude 3.5 Strikes Madhya Pradesh’s Alirajpur; No Reports of Damage

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 struck the Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday evening, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported. The tremor was recorded at 5:10 PM IST at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The NCS shared the seismic event details on social media platform X, stating: “EQ of M: 3.5, On: 04/05/2025 17:10:07 IST, Lat: 22.07 N, Long: 74.42 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh.” No immediate reports of injuries or damage have been received from the district.

Shallow earthquakes, such as this one, tend to have a more significant impact due to their proximity to the Earth’s surface. While no casualties have been reported, officials have advised residents to remain alert and follow safety protocols in the event of aftershocks.

This quake follows a series of minor seismic events across central and northern India. Earlier on the same day, a 3.1 magnitude earthquake shook Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district at around 9:30 AM, also at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Additionally, on May 3, another tremor of magnitude 2.8 was reported in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh. That quake occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers, further highlighting ongoing seismic activity in the region.

While the recent tremors have not caused significant disruption, authorities are continuing to monitor the situation. Citizens in affected regions have been urged to stay informed through official updates and take necessary precautions during such events.
