“Uber Introduces Women-Only Bike Ride Service in Bengaluru for Enhanced Safety and Empowerment”

Uber Launches 'Uber Moto Women' in Bengaluru for Women-Only Bike Rides

Ride-hailing giant Uber has launched a unique service called ‘Uber Moto Women’ in Bengaluru, designed exclusively for women riders and drivers. This new service aims to provide a safe, affordable, and convenient commute option while addressing women’s safety and mobility concerns, as well as offering flexible earning opportunities for female drivers.

The ‘Uber Moto Women’ service, which is available across major parts of Bengaluru, allows women riders to connect with female drivers. According to Uber, the service was developed based on feedback from women riders and drivers who expressed a preference for female-only rides.

Abhishek Padhye, Head of Regional Business Operations at Uber India and South Asia, emphasized that the initiative not only provides a safer ride option for women but also creates earning opportunities for female drivers in one of India’s fastest-growing mobility segments. “Bengaluru has always been a pioneer in embracing innovation, and we’re proud to launch this service here to set a new benchmark for inclusive urban mobility,” Padhye said.

In addition to offering women-only rides, the service includes multiple safety features. Riders can share trip details with up to five trusted contacts for real-time tracking. Uber also ensures privacy by anonymizing phone numbers and drop-off addresses. The platform’s proactive safety feature, RideCheck, monitors irregularities during rides, such as long stops or route deviations, and offers support when needed. Moreover, both riders and drivers have access to Uber’s 24×7 Safety Helpline for priority support.

While female participation in India’s ride-hailing sector has been relatively low, Uber hopes the ‘Uber Moto Women’ service will encourage more women to become drivers. The flexible working hours and short-distance trips make it easier for women to join the platform. Drivers can also choose to turn off the female-only rider setting, allowing them to accept all types of rides when they wish.

Uber’s new initiative in Bengaluru is expected to provide an inclusive and empowering platform for women, while also promoting safety and convenience in the city’s transportation landscape.
