Sukesh Chandrashekar Proposes $3 Billion Investment to OpenAI’s Sam Altman

vSukesh Chandrashekar Offers $3 Billion Investment to OpenAI's Sam Altman

Sukesh Chandrashekar, the infamous conman currently in judicial custody over multiple fraud and money-laundering cases, has made an unexpected investment proposal to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Chandrashekar, known for his extravagant claims, has offered to invest $1 billion immediately and an additional $2 billion over the next five years to support OpenAI’s operations in India.

A Bold Proposal from Behind Bars

In a letter addressed to Altman, Chandrashekar expressed his desire to contribute to India’s National AI Agenda through his investment in OpenAI. He wrote, “As you and your company are now working towards becoming a part of India’s National AI Agenda, I want to play a small role by making an investment in OpenAI of $1 billion immediately and further extend it to another $2 billion over the next five years for your Indian operations.”

He also urged Altman to accept his offer instead of seeking venture capital, saying, “Sam, why go to venture capital investors? Why should the big boys always have the fun? Sam, please just take my money.”

Chandrashekar’s Claims of Business Success

Chandrashekar claimed in his letter that he had built a successful online gaming and betting platform generating close to $3 billion annually. He asserted that his businesses are based outside India and that he is keen on investing in technology and artificial intelligence in the country.

Despite his legal troubles, Chandrashekar insisted that no allegations against him have been proven, stating, “Sam, just like how you started from scratch, I too have started from a humble beginning. The only difference is a lot of baggage has been tagged along with me—false allegations and legal cases. However, none have been proven against me till date.”

Past Investment Offers by Chandrashekar

This is not the first time Chandrashekar has made high-profile investment offers. Last year, he reportedly attempted to buy a 50-70% stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, presenting a ‘no-negotiation’ offer and claiming the transaction could be completed within 48 hours.

Additionally, in November 2023, he expressed plans to invest $135 million (approximately ₹1,130 crore) in a Los Angeles studio dedicated to Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, whom he claims to be in a relationship with.

Legal Troubles and the Enforcement Directorate’s Investigation

Chandrashekar is currently imprisoned and is under investigation by India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) for multiple fraud and money-laundering cases. His extravagant claims and high-profile connections have repeatedly made headlines, but his offers remain speculative given his legal constraints.

As of now, there has been no response from OpenAI or Sam Altman regarding the investment proposal. Given Chandrashekar’s past controversies, it remains to be seen if this latest offer will be taken seriously or dismissed as another publicity stunt.
