“PM Modi to Inaugurate Hindu Temple in UAE, Strengthen Bilateral Ties”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on February 13-14, marking his seventh trip to the region since 2015. The highlight of this visit will be the inauguration of the BAPS Mandir, Abu Dhabi’s first Hindu temple, underscoring the deepening ties between India and one of its closest strategic partners in West Asia.

During his stay, PM Modi will engage in bilateral discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed at further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. These discussions will encompass a range of issues, including ways to enhance bilateral cooperation on strategic, economic, and cultural fronts.

Additionally, PM Modi will meet with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president, prime minister, and defense minister of the UAE. He has also been invited to participate as a guest of honor in the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai, where he will deliver a special keynote address, highlighting India’s vision and contributions to global governance.

The inauguration of the BAPS Mandir is expected to be a significant moment, symbolizing the cultural ties and shared values between India and the UAE. This event will be complemented by PM Modi’s address to the Indian community at the Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, reaffirming the strong bond between the two countries and celebrating the contributions of the Indian diaspora to the UAE’s development.

India and the UAE share warm and multi-faceted relations, characterized by robust political, economic, and cultural exchanges. Notably, bilateral ties were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership following PM Modi’s visit to the UAE in August 2015, signifying the growing significance of the relationship.

Economic cooperation between India and the UAE has flourished, with bilateral trade reaching $85 billion during the fiscal year 2022-23. Both countries have also taken significant steps to facilitate cross-border transactions, including the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the establishment of a Local Currency Settlement (LCS) System.

The Indian community, comprising approximately 3.5 million people, constitutes the largest expatriate group in the UAE. Their contributions to the development of the UAE have served as a cornerstone of the bilateral engagement between India and the UAE, further cementing the strong and enduring bond between the two nations.
