Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday led a grand roadshow in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant event in the region’s development. The roadshow, which witnessed enthusiastic crowds, also included the unveiling of various projects worth ₹2 lakh crore aimed at boosting the state’s infrastructure and economic growth.
Accompanied by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his deputy Pawan Kalyan, PM Modi took part in a roadshow that began at the Sampath Vinayak temple and concluded at the Andhra University engineering college grounds. The streets were filled with people who showered flowers and cheered for the leaders as they traveled atop an open vehicle, waving to the crowd. The procession was adorned with flags of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Janasena.
The roadshow was followed by the laying of foundation stones for key projects, including the establishment of a new railway zone and an integrated green hydrogen hub by NTPC in Pudimadaka, Anakapalli district. The Prime Minister also launched several projects related to railways and roads, aimed at transforming the state’s infrastructure.
Vision for Andhra Pradesh’s Development
While addressing the crowd, PM Modi expressed his commitment to the development of Andhra Pradesh and emphasized the state’s potential in becoming a hub for new-age technologies. He said, “Our Andhra Pradesh is a state of possibilities and opportunities. When these possibilities are realized, only then will Andhra develop, and India will become a developed nation.”
The Prime Minister praised the Telugu Desam Party-led Andhra Pradesh government for its ambitious vision of becoming a 2.5-trillion-dollar economy by 2047, with the “Swarna Andhra @ 2047” initiative. He assured that the central government, under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), would continue to support the state in achieving this goal.
PM Modi highlighted that Visakhapatnam would become one of the few cities globally to host large-scale green hydrogen production facilities. The integrated green hydrogen hub is expected to create numerous job opportunities and contribute to the state’s manufacturing ecosystem. He also laid the foundation for the Bulk Drug Park in Nakkapalli, which is among the three such parks being established in India.
Focus on Urbanization and Industrial Growth
During his speech, PM Modi underscored the importance of urbanization in Andhra Pradesh’s future. “Our government views urbanization as an opportunity, and we aim to make Andhra Pradesh an example of new-age urbanization,” he stated. To further this vision, he laid the foundation for the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area, which is expected to be a significant industrial hub in the region.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in his address, expressed his gratitude for PM Modi’s leadership and support. “I am always getting inspiration from you, and I am learning many lessons from you,” said Naidu. He added, “Till yesterday, our Amravati was in the doldrums, now with your blessings, we are going to complete it and make it one of the best cities as you dreamt.”
Looking Ahead
The projects unveiled during the visit are expected to drive economic growth and job creation in the state, especially in the fields of green energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure development. With a focus on modern urbanization and technological advancements, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a significant player in India’s economic future, aligning with the central government’s vision for a developed nation by 2047.
