“Peyush Bansal of Lenskart Looks for Bengaluru Land for ‘Mega Factory’; Positive Response from Karnataka Minister”

Lenskart Co-Founder Seeks Land for Mega Factory in Bengaluru; Karnataka Minister Responds

Peyush Bansal, co-founder of India-based eyewear chain Lenskart, recently announced plans to establish a mega factory in Bengaluru. In a LinkedIn post, Bansal specified the need for 25 acres of land within 60 kilometers of Kempegowda Bengaluru International Airport for this venture. He invited companies with suitable factory land near the airport.

Karnataka Industries minister MB Patil promptly welcomed Lenskart’s initiative, expressing the state’s readiness to support and facilitate the company’s requirements. Patil assured that concerned officials from the Industries Department would reach out to Lenskart to discuss further collaboration.

Devanahalli, located near Bengaluru airport, has emerged as a key investment hub in Karnataka. Notably, last year, Foxconn, the manufacturer of Apple iPhones, announced an additional investment of $1.67 billion (approximately ₹14,000 crore) in the state. This investment is aimed at setting up a manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, where Foxconn has already acquired 300 acres of land.

The Karnataka government had previously disclosed Foxconn’s plans to invest $600 million in two component factories in the state, further solidifying Karnataka’s position as a favorable destination for major investments in the technology and manufacturing sectors. Lenskart’s interest in establishing a mega factory in Bengaluru reflects the region’s growing appeal for businesses seeking strategic locations and conducive environments for industrial expansion.
