Bengaluru has emerged as a key global hub for remote artificial intelligence (AI) talent, ranking as the fourth most hired-from city in the Asia-Pacific region for AI-related jobs. According to an Economic Times report citing data from global HR firm Deel, companies from the US, the UK, Singapore, Sweden, Germany, and Canada are increasingly looking to India to fill AI-related roles remotely.
The trend is driven by significant cost advantages, as hiring remote talent from India eliminates immigration-related complexities and nearly halves expenses for employers. The demand for AI professionals in India is expected to more than double from 600,000 in 2022 to over 1.25 million by 2027, the report highlighted.
The US has seen a remarkable 135% year-on-year increase in hiring AI talent from India in 2024, while Germany and Singapore have also expanded remote hiring from India by 50%. The most sought-after roles include AI researchers and data scientists with expertise in computer vision, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model training, and fine-tuning. Junior-level positions such as prompt engineers, AI artists, and video editors are also in high demand.
For Indian professionals, these remote opportunities offer significant financial benefits. Deel’s data indicates that remote AI workers from India earn an average annualized compensation of $25,000, nearly double the $13,000 median salary for similar local roles.
As a result, online job platforms such as Upwork, Appen, and Fiverr are witnessing a surge in demand for AI-skilled workers from India. Companies are particularly seeking professionals capable of handling massive datasets, sometimes requiring over a million rows of data to be processed within a week.
With remote hiring trends on the rise, Bengaluru continues to solidify its reputation as a global AI talent hub, attracting international firms eager to leverage India’s expertise in artificial intelligence.
