IKEA to Launch Online Deliveries in Delhi-NCR and Nine North Indian Cities from March 1

IKEA, the Swedish home furnishings brand, is set to expand its footprint in North India with the launch of online delivery services in Delhi-NCR and nine satellite cities starting March 1, 2025. The move will bring IKEA’s wide range of home and kitchen products, furniture, and décor to customers in Agra, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Ludhiana, and Varanasi via its website and mobile app.

To kick off its operations in the region, IKEA will deploy 50 electric vehicles for deliveries, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable logistics. Susanne Pulverer, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer of IKEA India, announced the initiative on February 27, stating that the company is transitioning to 100% electric vehicle deliveries by 2030 as part of its climate goals.

Expanding IKEA’s Reach in India

IKEA’s online expansion comes in response to growing demand from North Indian customers, who have shown strong engagement through online orders, app downloads, and social media inquiries.

“Ever since our first store opening in Hyderabad, we have received tremendous love and anticipation from customers in North India. Now, it’s our turn to reciprocate and bring IKEA closer to them,” said Pulverer.

The company has already witnessed nearly 1 lakh customers in Delhi-NCR sign up in anticipation of IKEA’s entry into the market. IKEA aims to offer locally relevant, space-saving, and budget-friendly solutions, catering to the needs of multi-generational households and small living spaces in India.

Omnichannel Growth and Future Plans

With over 30% of IKEA’s current sales in India coming from online channels, the brand is focusing on an e-commerce-first approach to reach more customers efficiently.

Additionally, IKEA is set to launch its first central distribution center in Gurgaon, a 180,000 sq ft facility that will support both e-commerce and upcoming large-format stores in Delhi-NCR.

The expansion aligns with Ingka Centres’ ₹5,500 crore investment in Noida, where it will set up its second meeting place under the Lykli brand. IKEA also plans to introduce IKEA Kreativ, an AI-driven tool that allows customers to virtually redesign their spaces with IKEA products.
