As the Amarnath Yatra 2025 prepares to welcome lakhs of devotees, the Jammu and Kashmir government has taken unprecedented security steps. From July 1 to August 10, all access routes to the sacred cave shrine will be classified as ‘No-Fly Zones’, disallowing the use of drones, balloons, and any airborne equipment.
Drone Ban Issued to Pre-Empt Possible Threats
Responding to heightened terror alerts, authorities have prohibited the operation of aerial devices. This measure aims to thwart any airborne surveillance or potential threats during the pilgrimage. The announcement came through a formal directive by the UT Home Department, based on inputs from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Operation Shiva Launched to Strengthen Ground Security
In tandem with aerial restrictions, security forces have rolled out ‘Operation Shiva’, a mission dedicated to safeguarding pilgrims throughout the yatra. This includes heavy deployment of personnel, CCTV surveillance, mobile bunkers, and checkpoints across all major stretches of the route, especially in sensitive zones.
Spiritual Journey Begins July 3 With Enhanced Measures
The annual spiritual journey will commence on July 3, with pilgrims taking the Baltal and Pahalgam routes to reach the cave temple. As the date nears, preparations are being finalized, from lodging arrangements to health services, all under tight watch.
Pilgrims Advised to Follow Guidelines and Stay Alert
Authorities have urged pilgrims to strictly adhere to issued guidelines, including mandatory registration and health checks. In addition to physical security, health camps, emergency rescue units, and communication services have also been activated to manage the large inflow of devotees.
Focus on Devotion and Discipline
Despite the challenges posed by terrain and security threats, the spirit of the yatra remains unshaken. With Lord Shiva’s blessings and the administration’s robust planning, Amarnath Yatra 2025 is poised to be a peaceful and fulfilling experience for all participants.
