The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed two significant contracts worth ₹2,867 crore to bolster the Indian Navy’s underwater warfare capabilities. The agreements focus on retrofitting Kalvari-class submarines with Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems to increase their endurance and integrating electronic heavy-weight torpedoes (EHWT) to enhance their firepower.

The Indian Navy is set to unveil its latest addition, the INS Tushil, a multi-role stealth-guided missile frigate, on December 9, 2024, during a grand commissioning ceremony in Kaliningrad, Russia. The event will be attended by India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who will be the chief guest, alongside senior officials from both Russian and Indian governments and defence sectors. This milestone marks a significant leap in the Navy's modernization efforts, reinforcing India’s defense capabilities.
