Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das for securing the coveted title of the top central banker globally in the prestigious Global Finance magazine’s Central Banker Report Cards 2023. In a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter), Modi expressed his pride in India’s financial leadership on the global stage, acknowledging Governor Shri Shaktikanta Das’ dedication and vision for enhancing the nation’s growth trajectory.

The Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023, published by the US-based Global Finance magazine, rated Shaktikanta Das with an ‘A+’ grade, positioning him at the pinnacle of central bank governors worldwide. The report card noted that these rankings celebrate the accomplishments of central bank governors whose strategies have outperformed their peers in terms of originality, creativity, and tenacity.

The grades awarded in the report are based on a scale ranging from ‘A’ to ‘F,’ evaluating success in areas such as inflation control, economic growth goals, currency stability, and interest rate management. An ‘A’ grade signifies excellent performance, while an ‘F’ designates outright failure.

Shaktikanta Das shares this prestigious ‘A+’ rating with two other central bank governors—Thomas J. Jordan of Switzerland and Nguyen Thi Hong of Vietnam. Their commendable performances have earned them top honors in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards 2023.
