In a recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Bollywood’s iconic megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared a candid look back at his early career struggles, revealing that his first salary was a modest ₹400. This revelation came during a conversation with MPSC aspirant Krishna Selukar, who discussed his own challenges with accommodation in Pune.
Amitabh Bachchan, who is now a celebrated figure in the entertainment industry, recounted his early days of struggle after graduating from college. He described his initial job search that led him to Kolkata, where he secured a position paying ₹400 per month. Reflecting on his living conditions at the time, Bachchan noted, “Even then, I was staying with eight flatmates in a single room. It was a humble beginning, but I enjoyed the experience despite the hardships.”
The actor reminisced about the camaraderie and challenges of living in close quarters with his roommates, including the daily disputes over who would get to sleep on the bed and who would sleep on the floor. “There was a lot of fun and camaraderie,” Bachchan shared. “We made the best of our situation, even with just two beds for eight people.”
Amitabh Bachchan’s journey from these humble beginnings to becoming one of Bollywood’s most esteemed stars is a testament to his perseverance and dedication. His career took a significant turn when he agreed to host the inaugural season of Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000, an adaptation of the British show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. Despite a brief hiatus in 2007 when Shah Rukh Khan hosted the third season, Bachchan has remained the face of the show ever since.
