In a significant move driven by declining international oil prices, the price of jet fuel and commercial cooking gas has been slashed. This marks the third consecutive monthly reduction in rates.
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were reduced by a substantial 6.5%, equating to ₹6,673.87 per kilolitre, bringing the new price to ₹94,969.01 per kilolitre in the national capital. This decrease follows a marginal 0.7% increase on May 1, which saw a ₹749.25 per kilolitre rise. In Mumbai, the ATF price has been cut from ₹95,173.70 to ₹88,834.27 per kilolitre. Prices vary across states due to local tax variations.
Commercial LPG, commonly used by hotels and restaurants, saw a reduction of ₹69 per 19-kg cylinder, now priced at ₹1,676. This follows earlier reductions of ₹19 on May 1 and ₹30.5 on April 1. Despite these changes, the price of LPG for domestic use remains unchanged at ₹803 per 14.2-kg cylinder.
April 1 witnessed the first reduction in commercial LPG prices since January. Prior to the cuts, the rate had increased by ₹14 per cylinder on February 1 and by ₹25.5 on March 1.
State-owned companies, including Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), adjust the prices of ATF and cooking gas on the first of each month, based on the average price of benchmark international fuel and the foreign exchange rate.
Meanwhile, the prices of petrol and diesel remain unchanged. Rates had previously been reduced by ₹2 per litre in mid-March, with petrol costing ₹94.72 per litre and diesel priced at ₹87.62 per litre in Delhi.
