Chevron, a global leader in energy solutions, has unveiled a major investment plan for Karnataka, pledging ₹8,300 crore to establish its Engineering and Innovation Centre of Excellence (ENGINE) in Bengaluru. This move is set to significantly boost the state’s engineering and technology sector.
According to a statement from the company, the new centre will focus on advancing energy system technology and is expected to create substantial employment opportunities. By 2025, Chevron plans to hire 600 engineers specializing in engineering and digital services.
MB Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, highlighting it as a testament to the state’s progress in engineering and innovation. He emphasized that this initiative will foster economic growth and job creation in Karnataka.
The Chevron centre will serve as a hub for complex global operations and energy projects, partnering with international stakeholders. Dr. Akshay Sahni, Country Head of Chevron India, noted that the centre will provide Indian talent with opportunities to collaborate on clean energy solutions while leveraging Chevron’s global expertise.
Bengaluru, already home to over 500 Global Competence Centres (GCCs), will further solidify its position as a key player in the global engineering and technology landscape. The new centre will contribute to the state’s ongoing efforts to promote economic development and innovation.
The investment aligns with Karnataka’s commitment to fostering a thriving technology and innovation ecosystem, reflecting the state’s role as a leader in economic and technological advancement in India.
