BookMyShow Files Police Complaint Over Fake Ticket Sales Amid Coldplay’s India Tour Frustrations

BookMyShow Takes Action Against Fake Tickets for Coldplay's India Tour

BookMyShow has filed a police complaint concerning the sale of counterfeit tickets for Coldplay’s upcoming “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in India, following a surge of frustration among fans during the ticket sale process. The band’s highly anticipated return has been overshadowed by server crashes, lengthy wait times, and unauthorized resellers capitalizing on the demand.

On the day tickets went on sale, the platform experienced significant technical difficulties as approximately 1.3 crore fans attempted to access the website and app, leading to limited availability and widespread disappointment. Reports indicate that while official ticket prices ranged from ₹2,500 to ₹12,500, unauthorized platforms like Viagogo and Gigsberg listed tickets at exorbitantly inflated prices.

In response to the chaos, BookMyShow released a statement condemning ticket scalping and distancing itself from unauthorized sellers. The company urged fans to refrain from purchasing tickets from these platforms, highlighting the risks of counterfeit tickets and potential financial loss.

“Only tickets purchased through BookMyShow are valid,” the statement read, emphasizing their commitment to combating ticket scalping. The complaint filed with local authorities aims to address the issue of unauthorized ticket sales.

Coldplay is scheduled to perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, 2024, marking their return to India after an eight-year hiatus since their last performance at the Global Citizen Festival in 2016.

As anticipation builds for the concert, fans are advised to remain vigilant and only purchase tickets through official channels to ensure their validity.
