From starting rope skipping in Class 5 to winning national and international medals, Mallikarjun Mishra has built an impressive sporting journey while pursuing a career in physiotherapy.
At just 19, Mallikarjun Mishra from Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand, has already spent more than a decade competing in rope skipping. What began as a school-level sporting activity in 2015 has developed into a journey across CBSE National Championships, Open Senior Nationals, international competitions and university-level championships.
Alongside his sporting achievements, Mallikarjun is pursuing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, with an ambition to combine his experience as an athlete with professional knowledge of injury recovery and sports rehabilitation.

Starting the Journey in Class 5
Mallikarjun began his sporting journey in 2015 at Bokaro Public School, where he was introduced to rope skipping in Class 5 under the guidance of his coach Mr. Rahul Pratap.

He has also taken leadership responsibilities as a school Head Boy and Sports In-Charge, while training and mentoring younger athletes.
His experience on both sides of competition—as an athlete and as a coach and judge—has given him a broader understanding of the sport.
Combining Sports With Physiotherapy
Mallikarjun is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Manav Rachna University in Faridabad.
His educational path connects closely with his sporting career. Having experienced the physical demands of competitive sport, he aims to use his future knowledge in physiotherapy to help athletes manage injuries, recover effectively and return to competitive sport.
This combination of athletic experience and physiotherapy education could allow him to contribute to sports not only through performance but also through athlete recovery and rehabilitation.
A Journey That Started With One School Tournament
Mallikarjun Mishra’s journey illustrates how a simple decision in Class 5 can develop into a long-term sporting career. With 10+ years in rope skipping, four CBSE Nationals, three Open Senior Nationals, three international championships, an All India University Championship appearance, a national record, multiple medals, coaching credentials and judging experience, he has built a diverse sporting profile at a young age.
As he continues his physiotherapy education alongside competition, coaching and judging, Mallikarjun’s journey remains closely connected to the sport that shaped his career. His goal now extends beyond winning medals—to supporting the next generation of athletes and helping them stay stronger, healthier and ready to compete.
